Here are some great apps I’ve found for foodies, locavores, and environmentalists alike.

Don’t Eat That: This app helps you determine what all those scientific terms listed in food ingredients. Enter in an ingredient or additive and it will give you health and safety information. While this new app is pretty cool, I prefer to save the $1.99 it costs and live by one simple rule: “If you don’t know what it is, don’t eat it”.

Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood WATCH: This free app tells you which of your favorite fishies are best to eat and which to avoid. It also gives good alternatives to those items you can’t live without, providing sources which use sustainable methods of catching these sea creatures.

GoodGuide: This app helps you find safe, healthy, green products. You can scan in a barcode and up pops page that rates the product on its impact on health, environment, and society.

Locavore: Using your location this app will help you determine what’s in season and local in your area. It gives you information about nearby farmers markets and also lets you know what is seasonal in other areas if you are traveling.
