Introducing the 90 Calorie Mini Coke

December 6, 2009 at 11:09 pm Leave a comment

Coca-Cola has recently introduced their mini can to markets in New York City and Washington, D.C. Other soft drink companies are soon to follow with their own fewer calorie version. They will be sold in an 8 pack by the way. Whenever companies do things like this I always wonder what the outcome will be. On the one hand, it is great to give consumers the option to choose fewer calories. If you don’t need a whole soda, but want something small and refreshing, then perhaps this will curb unnecessary calorie consumption. However, on the flip side this could prompt individuals in to the mindset of ‘Well, it’s only 90 calories so it’s OK if I have another one’. If the latter becomes the case then this Mini Can could result in Maxi Consumption.
